According to Gov. Andy Beshear, a deadly tornado strike in western Kentucky has resulted in the death of at least 50 people.

He also said the estimate could escalate to 75 to 100 individuals, calling it “one of the darkest nights in Kentucky history”.

Beshear revealed that countless people perished in a candle factory in Mayfield, where 110 employees were laboring when the storm started on Friday night.

He further pronounce that the tornado ripped through the area for 200 miles, wrecking villages which include Mayfield and Princeton late Friday.

According to reports, Western Kentucky was hit by at least four tornadoes.

For search and rescue and recovery missions, Beshear has summoned the National Guard, with 181 guardsmen mobilized.

Beshear, while commenting on the miserable incident, he said

We will get make it through this, we will rebuild.

We are strong, resilient people, and we will be there every step of the way.
