Philippe Coutinho revealed he was delighted to be back in the Premier League after scoring a late equalizer for Aston Villa in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

In the final moments of the game at Villa Park, Steven Gerrard’s side behind by two goals before Coutinho scored just days after joining on loan from Barcelona.

Five minutes later, the Brazilian rounded off Villa’s comeback with a brilliant close-range goal after latching onto Ramsey’s low cross.

It was the ideal way for Coutinho to honor his successful return to the English Premier League four years after departing Liverpool for Barcelona.

In a conversation with Skysports, Coutinho said

I was missing these games, as well as the Premier League. I’m very thrilled to be here with my new teammates.

We had a good start, and we stayed positive till the finish, but we didn’t lose.

When Coutinho was asked if he was anxious about his Aston Villa debut, he said

Yes, a little bit. I don’t speak English very well, so I prefer to be on the pitch than chatting all the time.

I’m pleased. it was my first game, and I’m eager to grow and get in better shape.

Coutinho underperformed at Barcelona and completed the 2019-20 season on loan at Bayern Munich.

Coutinho further stated

There have been a lot of highs and lows. Coutinho stated, it is in the past.

I’m here, and I’m focused on the club’s and manager’s aims, and I want to do a good job for my teammates and the club.
