Sunday Adeyemo, also identified as Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba nation agitator, has declared that the Nigerian government is conspiring to assassinate him in the Benin Republic.
On July 19, officers of the Brigade Criminelle (Criminal Brigade) apprehended Igboho, 49, in Cotonou. Despite repeated attempts to have him released, he has been detained for over 161 days.
In an audio statement on Tuesday evening, Olayomi Koiki, a Sunday Igboho publicist, claimed that the Benin Republic President Patrice Talon was collaborating with the Federal Government to extradite Igboho to Nigeria.
On July 1, the Department of State Service (DSS) raided Sunday Igboho’s apartment, alleging that it did so relying on legitimate information that he had amassed weapons and ammunition there.
