According to a draft statement trumpeted by G7, the Group of Seven richest democracies cautioned Russia on Sunday of “huge consequences” if President Vladimir Putin attacked Ukraine.
The G7 representatives said they were resolute in their denunciation of Russia’s military buildup near Ukraine and pressed on Moscow to de-escalate at a meeting in Liverpool, northern England.
According to the statement drafted by G7, it reads
Ukraine is in the midst of an East-West crisis, alleging Russia of stationing tens of thousands of troops in readiness for a large-scale military attack.
Russia denied any strike preparations and accused Ukraine and the US of disrupting behavior, asserting that it needs security guarantees for its own safety.
The G7 comprises the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, and the United States, as well as a European Union delegate.
