Antonio Cassano, a former Italian international, has told Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo that he is not afraid of anyone including the pope.

After the ex-Italian footballer criticized the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cassano alleged that the Portugal international sent him text messages demanding to be respected and took his time to list football career accomplishments.

Cassano is not someone to be subdued when it comes to airing his thoughts on athletes and other football-related topics, and Ronaldo is no different.

Back in February, during an interview with Christian Vieri’s twitch channel, Cassano asserted and termed Ronaldo as a selfish player who does not live for football but for his own personal records.

He doesn’t live for football, he lives for his own goals, it’s clear.

The retired footballer further pronounced that he has a list of 50 footballers who are better than the Portuguese.

He unfolded that the Manchester United star should emulate seven times Ballon D’or winner, Lionel Messi, and endeavor to be more relaxed in his doings.

In his statement, the former inter Milan striker said

Ronaldo wrote me messages.

Cristiano Ronaldo, telling me that I need to have respect for him because of the trophies he’s won and the goals he’s scored.

I’m not afraid, to tell the truth, I’ll face anyone; from the Pope to the last on this earth.

I called Buffon and he confirmed that he gave my number to the press officer, who turned it over to Ronaldo so he could tell me he’s scored 750 goals and I only got 150.

To him, I’d just say: dear Cristiano, you have everything. Be calm and relaxed. Take your example from Messi, he doesn’t give a damn about anything or anyone.

He sent me a message, honestly it’s the truth.

Gigi Buffon knows it well, Gigi laughed about it. Chiellini knows too.

It made me angry. what are you doing? What is your problem?

Since joining Manchester United from Juventus in the summer, Ronaldo has scored 12 goals for the former Premier League champions in all competitions.

In this year’s Ballon d’Or awards, unfortunately, the Portugal international came in sixth place, behind Karim Benzema, Jorginho, Robert Lewandowski, and Lionel Messi.
