On Friday, protesters in Jakarta advocated that the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing be canceled due to China’s maltreatment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang.

Hundreds of teenage protesters assembled just outside of the Chinese embassy in Jakarta ahead of the Beijing Olympics Games next month.

Beijing’s approach toward the Uighurs has been described as a criminal offense by the US government and also the British, Belgian, Dutch, and Canadian parliaments.

A million or more Uighurs and other mainly Muslim groups are held in detention camps, which China refers to as vocational training and education centers.

Beijing maintains that its actions are necessary in order to combat terrorism and a rebel group movement.
