Shina Abiye, 27, was imprisoned to eight months in prison by the Federal High Court’s Ibadan Division for indulging in 500g of marijuana.

Following Mr. Abiye’s guilty verdict and proof before the court, Justice Uche Agomoh found him guilty.

Mr. Agomoh claimed that she was aware that the accused did not continue to waste the court’s money and effort before pleading guilty.

Raphael Himinkaiye, NDLEA’s lawyer, informed the jury that the defendant was prosecuted on a count charge involving an illegal substances sale.

Mr. Himinkaiye proclaimed that Mr. Abiye was nabbed by NDLEA operatives on April 2 in the Shasha area of Ibadan.

Besides, Abiye is a first-time offender and has expressed regret through his counsel’s submission.

The judge then added that the eight-months sentence of Mr. Abiye to prison is expected to serve as a lesson to other deviants who are walking the same damning path.

However, to serve as a warning to others thinking of embarking on similar action, Abiye is sentenced to eight months in prison. The weed exhibit found in his possession shall be destroyed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
