Insecurity is the greatest danger confronting the Federal Government in 2021, according to Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed.

Lai Mohammed made the statement during a press briefing in Lagos yesterday to underline President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s accomplishment in the departing year 2021.

Despite Buhari’s extensive significant milestone, insecurity, according to Lai Muhammed, was a significant concern.

He proclaimed that as a result of this, over 1,000 terrorists were neutralized, 2,000 civilians were saved, and over 22,000 insurgents, including their families, surrendered in the North-East.

He also indicated that several weapons and ammunition were retrieved, as well as the devastation of many terrorist bomb-making plants and workshops.

Let me admit straight away that the year has not been devoid of challenges.

For the outgoing year, in particular, the major challenge has been that of insecurity.

In spite of this and the usual economic challenges, especially the dwindling resources available to the government, the administration has availed itself creditably, as we will be demonstrating shortly.

As I said in my introductory remarks, our biggest challenge in the outgoing year is in the area of security.

Despite the enormity of the challenge, our military has continued to live up to its billing.
We owe them a debt of gratitude for their patriotism and sacrifice.

We just can’t appreciate them enough, as you will soon see when I break down their achievements in the year under review

Mohammed applauded Buhari’s government for making real progress in 2021, saying that despite substantial obstacles across the year, the administration made significant success in combating insecurity, developing the economy, and overhauling the oil sector.

He also commended the military’s performance to Buhari’s leadership and collaboration of the armed forces and their leadership’s unwavering dedication.
