Yesterday, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced that the Ikeja flyover bridge would be completed a month or two before the end of August 2022, which was the actual completion date.
The initiative attempts to alleviate the struggles of people who use the Agege-Motor Road to get to their destinations.
After reviewing parts of the Blue and Red line train projects, Sanwo-Olu indicated that the state administration has demanded that the contractor finish the bridge construction ahead of the originally set date. According to him, marching orders have been delivered to ensure that the deadlines are adhered to.
Construction contractors who met deadlines and worked on a public holiday, including those at the Yaba, Oyingbo, and Marina railway stations, received praise from the governor, who was on site.
Sanwo-Olu’s message asserted that contractors were obligated to complete projects on time or a month or two ahead of the planned delivery date and that a quarterly inspection was a part of those efforts.
During his visit to Yaba, the governor notified traders that they would be evacuated. He encouraged them not to be frightened, but rather to work with the government instead of against it.
