The executive governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has professed his heartfelt towards the loss of Sylvester Oromoni, a Dowen college student who lost his life.

Sylvester Oromoni, 16, is the name Nigerians are currently chewing as they incessantly call for justice over the student’s loss of his life to bully at school where he was purported to have been battered and forced to drink a chemical substance which led to his death.

In one of our preceding posts, we reported that the Lagos state commissioner of police, Hakeem Odumosu, promulgated the arrest of three out of the five students that were alleged to be the perpetrators.

Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his condolence message to the family of the deceased, proclaimed to make sure that justice prevail.

In an Instagram post that had Sylvester’s image attached, Sanwo-Olu wrote

I commiserate deeply with the family of late Sylvester (Jnr) Oromoni, the 12-year old pupil of Dowen College, Lagos.

As a parent, I share the grief Sylvester’s demise has brought upon his parents and the entire household. The incident is not only sad but disturbing and heartbreaking.

Consequently, I have ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter. But while that is going on, I would like to give Sylvester’s parents and the entire citizenry of Lagos, the assurance of my full support at this trying time.

I share their pains and sense of loss. Indeed, words are inadequate to describe my feelings, but I pray that God Almighty will soothe their pains, and grant Sylvester Jnr eternal rest. Amen.
